About me

I’m Alasdair Weir, a construction project manager, craftsman and photographer based in Renfrewshire.

I began my working life in joinery and have spent around forty years in the construction industry, including more than twenty years working with social housing. Today, much of my work involves demolition, building conservation and the careful repair of historic structures. That experience has given me a lasting interest in how buildings were originally made, how materials age and what can be learned from the details left behind.

Away from work, I still enjoy making things from timber, particularly pieces that allow the natural character and history of the wood to remain visible. Photography has grown from the same instinct: stopping to notice a landscape, a building, a texture or an ordinary detail that might otherwise be passed by.

This website brings those interests together. It is not intended as a formal business portfolio, but as a personal collection of photographs, craftsmanship and historic-building stories gathered while travelling and working around Scotland.
